Alexandra and Genevieve Smart know better than most that personal style is an individual’s form of expression. Exuding cool confidence, 
Ginger & Smart underpins contemporary luxury, combining polish with playfulness in their designs. King Living’s brand ethos 
resonates strongly with the label, and, like Ginger & Smart, are renowned for imbuing quality designs and structures

Resting upon the exquisite Zaza sofa, the women behind Ginger & Smart made colour and texture choices which were inspired by the 
brand’s Spring collection. Overlooking one of Sydney’s spectacular beaches, the light-filled interior houses the award-winning Zaza, 
upholstered in a rose-hued, textured Positano fabric. Soft, pastel pink accent cushions are grounded by earthy olive greens and warm, 
dark timber accents, creating an effortlessly chic look.

The Zaza sofa, sure to become a King Living classic, offers enticing deep seats and a relaxed feel. Its supple form is extended 
with adjustable arms and backs, as well as the latest addition of an angled chaise. Like Ginger & Smart designs, King Living’s Zaza 
is masterfully poised, offering a timeless design which can be styled to suit any living space.

When it comes to Australian style, Genevieve notes how Australia’s rugged landscape and harsh climate are balanced by a sweet fragility. 
This unique environment is a source of inspiration for the sisters when they are designing, especially in striking the balance of embracing 
femininity whilst also appealing to strong, intelligent women.

“There’s a real strength but also a fragility…things like wattle…strong but also delicate… 
and it’s really unique to the rest of the world… in that Australia is so harsh, yet so delicate too."

Neale touches on the link between fashion and home, as two seemingly separate worlds have edged closer in recent years. 
Alexandra remarks that “one inspires the other”, with some of the label’s inspiration coming through in her own home, 
whilst maintaining a relaxed, comfortable space to raise her children.

“My home is really quite relaxed and a bubble that I want my kids to be happy and feel at home in that space... 
so I’ve gone for greens and blues, blacks and whites…. I change that up with cushions, colour, a bit of quirk and fun."

In an age of “fast” fashion, Alexandra provides the antithesis: “slow” fashion, a concept which involves considered choices, 
using quality materials and creating for the future. Both King Living and Ginger & Smart place a strong 
emphasis on quality and longevity, as well as individuality.

The Ginger & Smart brand is what Neale refers to as a stunning “kaleidoscope of memories, people and places”
