CAULFIELD CUP - OCTOBER 20

As the name suggests this Race Day takes place at Caulfield Racecourse, because of this the style of Racewear is more relaxed than the traditional outfits worn to Flemington. For many Caulfield Cup is the first Race Day attended - so outfits are celebratory. Bright colours, younger more directional styling. This is the only race day when wearing a jumpsuit won’t be frowned upon.

OUTFIT SUGGESTIONS

DERBY DAY - NOVEMBER 03

The most traditional of the Race days and excellent example of classic elegance. Wearing black & white is essential. This dress code is the most widely adhered to of the carnival, so trust me when I say leave the colours at home. Instead, choose between monochrome, all-over white or all-over black looks and let the details of your dress become the statement Its my personal belief that you should wear a hat to Derby Day rather than a fascinator. Outfits tend to be more structured & tailored & dresses should finish below the knee.

OUTFIT SUGGESTIONS

MELBOURNE CUP DAY - NOVEMBER 06

For the race that stops the nation, you want an outfit that will do the same. This is the day to dress to impress!
Colour & lots of it! Directional & fashion forward shapes!
Your hat, dress, shoes & bag styled to perfection.
You really can’t be too dressed up – after all, Cup Day is as much about Fashions on the Field as it is about the races.

OUTFIT SUGGESTIONS

OAKS DAY - NOVEMBER 08

Oaks Day is known as Ladies Day & on this day you are to wear feminine, floral & romantic outfits.
The day is all about feeling and looking beautiful and women expressing themselves in a ladylike manner.
Lots of pink, florals, lace & frills are usually seen.
Hemlines are below the knee & outfits are unashamedly girly.

OUTFIT SUGGESTIONS

STAKES DAY - NOVEMBER 10

Stakes Day is also known as Family Day. It is the race day when children are encouraged to attend.
Stakes Day is like a big relaxed party. Everyone is in a great mood because it is the last day of the
Spring Racing Carnival. Dressing for Stakes Day is similar to Caulfield Cup - but a bit more relaxed
and borderline bohemian. I recommend a charming straw hat or small headpiece that won’t
overwhelm your look. A simple headband or decorative slide will even do the trick for Stakes Day.

OUTFIT SUGGESTIONS

Below is a list of what you must not wear to any race day...

- Shorts

- Leather pants or un-tailored pants

- Garments that show midriff

- Short jumpsuits or playsuits

- Strictly no denim

- Felt hats (only for Winter Racing)

Each of the major racedays at Flemington has an official flower. Victoria Derby Day has the Corn Flower,
Melbourne Cup Day is for the Yellow Rose, Oaks Day highlights the Pink Rose and Stakes Day goes to the Red Rose.
